Gymnogyps californianus July 21, 1946 Nr. Frazier Park, Calif. of the "Escapura" (sp?) - Salt Creek area - he saw 4 condors perched on high cliffs. Last time the weather he saw only 3, he said, so figured I was shot. They were not there in winter but came in in spring, he said. Once he found a dead one (about 10 yrs. ago) which he thought was shot. I doubt any of this information is accurate but record it anyway, Ck. I phoned Rex Coppennall, lookout at Tejon Lookout (county - Borman). He thought he had seen a condor there once this season. Cuddy said he had read an article (in a paper) by Condon (Jerry?) once which said that condors wintered in the lower slopes. I drove to Liebre Mtn., near Sandberg's & talked with L.A. C. fire woman there; he had been here several years but took no interest in birds. He thought he had seen 1 or 2 occ- asionally. At the weather station were two men & wife of one; they had been here 2 years but had seen no condors. One gets a good view of the W. end of Antelope Valley & S. side of Tehachapis from here (Bald Mtn.). The Bailey Ranch is now G.E. Kinsey's road. Apparently only cattle are run there, & but I saw only a few. July 23, 1946 Nr. Squaw Flat, Ventura Co. Drove up the Squaw Flat road from Fillmore. There was a locked gate with several locks at Oak Flat. at 10:20 left my car at foot of Whiteacre Pk. trail & hiked up the canyon to
