Gymnogyps californianus July 6, 1946 Beartrap Canyon, Calif. rose 500'; then at 3 p.m. headed S. toward where first perched, the buzzards following in a group 1/4 mile behind. after 1/2 mile, the 3 condors again circled, & the buzzards checked too & circled just above them. This is best instance buzzards I have seen of buzzards staying with condors in flight. 5:10, the 3 were about 500' above the "fief" bluff, 10 buzzards circling near them, but all more scattered than before. The group was about 3/4 mile W. of the "fief" at 5:15, Fair W. breeze still. At 5:17 I saw 2 condors slight 1/4 mile apart on the sky line in green pines about 3/4 mile W. of Dawson's nest. So, at least 3 adults, possibly 5, roosting in pines stop Me Cheaney Mtn. on NE side. The buzzards seemed to be descending near the last condors. By 5:40 I spotted no condors so hiked downstream to camp. July 7, 1946 Beartrap Canyon, Calif. Calm night & clean. Hiked up canyon & arrived at my watching point of yesterday at 7:10 a.m. Clear, calm, + 65°. I could not spot any roosting condors. At 8:10, air calm still, I saw first turkey vulture soaring near cliffs. By 8:20 I saw 5-1/2 vult. ures in air; a fair SW breeze sprang up. At 8:31 I saw 3 adults gliding over cliff tops about 1/2 mile S.S.E. of the "fief"; then a fourth joined them. Two flew glided fast, the wingtips being
