Gymnogyps californianus June 24, 1946 Nr. Cholame, Calif. walked quickly away when 4+ from animal. 3:20, another slighed, we were chased off to E., 4 & 5 were strung out then for about 100' from carcass, rather evenly spaced, but but no feeding apparent. Then a clash of about 4 rushing together, wings up & flapping. Took off about 3:25 we took off with 22 flaps (an min.). 3:28, 6 strung out for about 50' to E. of carcass & we about 100' from it. 3:35, 3 in air about 1 mile SW of calf - so 10 total. at the calf area, about 50' from carcass, a great fight & scrambling - two locked together, wings flapping, throwing up dust, 4 second fight for about 30 seconds, then one off flapping with the other after it. 3:45, I saw me 300', our Barkfield road S. end. Then I descended & lit about 100' W. of calf. About 2 minutes later one of the 4 at carcass left it & ran out after this bird, driving it back, then walked back to carcass leaving the other standing alone. 3:57, 2 now to W. of carcass, 5 still close to it. 4 P.M., 2 two at carcass & the 2 W. of it took off to NE. singly, some holding wings before takeoff run. One of these 4 landed at carcass again. 4:02, one left carcass & flew off. 4:13, a fourth lit at carcass & two were circling 200' over carcass. 4:16, Two lit at carcass - at least 5 visible there. A rather fluttered out of way as a condor, flapped 4:25, one flapped wings & lifted 4+ into air, then drop
