Gymnogyps californianus June 29,1946 Nr. Cholame, Cali. cow walked slowly through them & the condor parted, walking rapidly 10±' from cows. The cow appear- ently snuffed the calf, then walked slowly away; the condor walked back to the carcass, 11:15; at least one stole carcass, feeding, 4 all 5 within 10' of calf. 11:20, one ran 30±' to NE, 4 30 tree. Later an adult walked out toward it & reached put with child. Both jumped into air, flopping. Both walked back to the carcass 30± sec. Later. Don said he was born & rais- ed in the Cholame Hills; saw no condors except one on the San Juan River about 25 years ago & there seem rivil Truesdell. Then 5 or 6 years ago he began to hear re- ports. Don McMillen saw a large lunch near Table Mtn. Early in the morning - so perhaps the condors roosted there. 11:33, the condors still clustered at carcass; about 3 youngs & 3 turkey multner standing about. 11:45, no change; at least 4 multner standing 15±' from the condors. At 11:53, one, then another adult, took off with 18± flayers & landed 100± yds. to E. of calf. A few seconds before a cow had walked among the feeding condors & they had apparently stopped feeding & stood around. After 1± minute these two flapped another 100± yds. E. at edge of a group of 500± Hereford cattle. A third adult from calf joined them, & all walked & hopped, pausing every 50±', to W. about 50 yds. more. Then all stood at a grun
