Gymnogyps californianus June 23, 1946 Mr. McChesney Mtn., Calif. saw 3 at his place about same date. About 13th of March, 3 seen by Els in Bitterwater, 43, about a week later. Els said that Evan Brown said he saw 6 at Cholame Flat about March 1. Bochel Brothers said they saw 2 about March 21 near Cammati Ranch on Shell Creek — in early days the B. Bros. sold Wilcox a skin for $15; Els said. Iaw said that Truesdale told him that the most condors he had ever seen was 6 — so, the birds must have been scarce here even 40 years ago. We then left the condor area about 2 p.m., and returned to Sbendan via Cammati Canyon. June 24, 1946 Mr. Cholame, Calif. With Dan McMillen & son Donald drove to Cholame Flat and Cholame Rocks. Day clear, fair E. breeze. At 9:30 I started looking for condors over Cholame Flat & immediately saw 3 condors circling at 500' about 1½ miles W. of Cholame Rocks. A minute later I saw 3 more about 1½ mile NW of the Rocks near a corral. The 5.3 birds rose & I lost them. The N. 3 descended & 3 were on the ground at 9:41. They perched about 50 yds. N. of a calf, a cow standing near the calf. Two condors walked toward the calf & one was at it by 9:49, the cow 15' away. One more alighted at 9:51, & there were 4 condors perched
