near nest; one about 200' sway & 30±' below the
other, 100±' away & 50±' below, both to S.W. Whitework
there appeared not recent. Turkey vultures - 2 or 3-
also swooped about the area. At 8:20 a.m. today
we saw one adult on tip top of on the rock bluff
about 1 mile E. of the "jief" on S. side of Beartrap
Canyon. It took off about 8:25, circled & rose, &
fler. glided to N. about 1000' above us (±6± right
primary missing). Most conspicuous whitework
was about 4 miles 200yds. W.E. of nest on a 15"
long shelf under top overhang of the northernmost
cliff point. The white extended for 10'+ on two sep-
rate shelves. Sparse digger prior stone ridge
appear paw for roasting so perhaps only cliff
roasta here. Two prairie falcons were also
over the "jief". We left nest area about 12±
descended to 300±' below & to N. of nest to watch.
Day clear & warm; light to fair breeze.
Dan Mc M. says Truesdale's main purpose in
taking Dawn to the nest was to prove that eggs
taken by him & doubted by Chambers were
authentic. The Mc M's doubt Truesdale smart
enough to fake an egg - he would look down
if wrong, they believe. Elb said that about 3 who
ago one was seen near the school near Palo Cristi
pass. Pass by people at "the school", & his wife
