Gymnogyps californianus June 21, 1946 Sisquoc Canyon, Calif. at 10:50. I climbed the N. bank of the Sisquoc about 500' & from there took several pictures of Sisquoc Falls, completing at 11:45. As this is about noon & about the summer solstice & the cliffs face about north, the light on cliff face is about maximum (mostly in shade). Hiked back upstream then & reached Cottonwood Camp at 1 p.m. Fished upstream & returned to Alman Saddle. June 22, 1946 Cuyama Valley, Calif. Drove from Alman to Cuyama Ranger Station. Talked with various men there & heard that 1 condor had been seen about a week ago from Colinte Mtn. (lookout). A member of the trail crew I met in April in Falls Canyon said that they saw one perch in a dead pine in Falls Canyon the day I left them. None knew of any sheep in Cuyama Valley at this time. I drove toward Moricopa, then took the road to Soda Lake and Seminal thru Carrizo Plains. I saw no stock south of Soda Lake but many old cattle droppings. Then saw about 500 head before reaching Summer. Saw 5 turkey vultures on a hog carcass at one point. Continued northward through Betterwater Valley to Alman but saw no condors. Then visited Don McMillen. He said the Betterwater Valley was a place where condors were frequently reported. On April
