Gymnogyps californianus
June 21, 1946 Sisquoc Canyon, Calif.
at 10:50. I climbed the N. bank of the Sisquoc
about 500' & from there took several pictures of
Sisquoc Falls, completing at 11:45. As this is about
noon & about the summer solstice & the cliffs face
about north, the light on cliff face is about maximum

then & reached Cottonwood Camp at 1 p.m. Fished
upstream & returned to Alman Saddle.

had been seen about a week ago from Colinte
Mtn. (lookout). A member of the trail crew I
met in April in Falls Canyon said that they saw

Cuyama Valley at this time. I drove toward
Moricopa, then took the road to Soda Lake and
Seminal thru Carrizo Plains. I saw no stock
south of Soda Lake but many old cattle droppings.
Then saw about 500 head before reaching Summer.
Saw 5 turkey vultures on a hog carcass at one
point. Continued northward through Betterwater Valley

McMillen. He said the Betterwater Valley was a place
where condors were frequently reported. On April
