Gymnogyps californianus June 20, 1946 Falls Canyon, Calif. flat ledge about 15' E.W. of boulders - more than on my last visit - and one small condor foot- print was in the pool. No whitework at pool edge. Pool still partly sandy bottomed & shallow so apparently favorable for condor bathing still. I saw no condors in trees in Falls Canyon tho I searched much. About 9 a.m., - light breeze, clear sky, warm - I started back via Falls Canyon. Arrived at Dead Oaker at 10:45 & Big Pines at 11:30. Left here at 12:00 & hiked slowly toward Big Pine Lookout. At 2:14 I saw one adult descend, tacking into the fair S. wind, feet down, wings flipped, near the bluffs in first S.-facing canyon W. of Court point in the trail (about 1 1/2 miles S.-line from the lookout). The descent area was hidden from my view. I continued on to the lookout. They had seen no condors all day. Soon a State trapper named Tegan arrived. His headquarters was at Bluff Camp & he was primarily trapping coyotes. He said that about 5 years ago, in the fall, he had thrown all his bobcat & coyote carcasses over the cliff at one point & that eventually up to 26 condors came. He said also that three years ago two women were on the lookout, & they used to walk to a point
