Gymnogyps californianus June 19, 1946 Big Pine lookout, Calif. cliff. June 13, 1945 - 4 over Damon Pk.. [she did not enter condors in log then until October ]. October 9, 1945 - 5 seen flying. [This was most logged for 1945]. Oct. 2, 1945 - a young one with dark head came from the west and perched about 50' from the look- out near the flagpole. Oct. 22, 1945 - the "baby" was in the yard about 3 hours. The "mother" came & fed it once. The "mother" appeared smaller than the youngster & flew off before the youngster seemed set. The baby was approached within 2'yd., & seemed fearless, infid. Mrs. Bayre described the begging "flaps" acc- urately. Oct. 24, 1945 - the "baby" came again & lay flat on a rock near the flagpole & "like a duck", said Mrs. B.J. It was fed & flew off with the adult. Oct. 26, 1945 - Nash-Baude came up to take pictures. The youngster was there & moved about to various points during the day, but apparently N.B. got no good pictures. Mrs. B. recalls seeing a large group of 7 or 8 this day too. On Oct. 31 they left the lookout - the male was killed there a few days later. This year only 3 or 4 condors seen - perhaps 2 every couple of days. Last year they perched on the cliffs to W. of the lookout & at times & on the highest point to east. Mrs. B. said that the ravens sometimes flew at the "baby" and it ruffled up & buzzed. She saw a duck hawk chasing a condor today. Thus
