Gymnogyps californianus June 17,1946 Nr.Squaw Flat, Calif. perching shelf Thus: "it" It is hoped that photos will show the location more occur- ately. Sky clear, air warm, light breeze. On the cliff face near where I have seen the nest adults perched in trees, there were two ledges, one under an overhang, the other in a pothole, which were much whitewashed - cliff roosts for the adults & judge. There were about 100' apart vertically & 200' horizontally in vertical sandstone cliffs. About 11:13 I saw an adult flew glide S. part about 200' above the nest; about 11:45 I saw an adult pass over the Deer Meadow ridge heading N., at also flew gliding fast. Perhaps there were nest adults keeping an eye on things at home. At 11:50 I was set up under a sugar bush about 1/4 mile W. of the nest where I could observe it with telescope & Leo view the roosting trees. Light to fair W. breeze. Actually this nest would be no more difficult to reach than the one near Oil Well Point in Sierra Canyon. I watched until 1:30 - no carders. Took 4 photos of nest cliff & roost area from the ridge of Deer Meadow, then returned to watching at 2 p.m. The cave entrance appears to be squarish, about 4'
