Gymnogyps californianus June 13, 1946 Hopper Canyon, Calif. The cattle appeared to want to walk past where 2 or t condors were on the ground but appeared hesitant to do so - a wave of a great wing should frighten them same. 3:15, the two condors took off singly from beneath the oak when lead steer was 100' from them - perhaps they were leaving anyway. 3:20, saw an adult under the oak & another land; then one adult took off (to E, flapping, then glided N., as others from that area). 3:24, I saw me land at Condor Falls, on a rocks shelf 8' S. of the pool on next to high- set level. Within a few seconds the bird was at the S. edge of pool. Two multures punched at edge of the highest fall. 3:30, saw 1 standing in shade under oak at foot of Big Meadow (gone by 3:33). 3:35, one soaring about over Crundell Ridge area. 5 adults, in separate trees, in the Near Roast Trees; 4 1 adult in dead Ps. S. of foot of Big Meadow (as' before) and 1 min. SE of Big Mdw. (as before). 3:40, about 8 condors at Condor Falls! About 5 of these were in a group at the top brink where water runs over the rocks & others on the rock banks above that level. Two were on the S. promi- nence, 15' above the lunch. They flew to N. bank & lawn, singly, then to falls top. 3:44, (two adults alighted on the smooth rock
