Gymnogyps Californianus June 13, 1946 Hopper Canyon, Calif. up 4t', flopping, each time, turning in air, 4 was driven 70t' downhill. This left 11st carc- cases, at least 4 adults. One adult tugged at head area, another at upper hind by. 12:04- 14 on ground, at least 6 adults - no ravens or buzzards. Occasionally one flew or ran at cathy hill extended sometimes, & there was a scram- bling & flopping for a few seconds. One adult ran at another - the other fled & took off downhill. An inim. tugged at upper foreleg. At least 3 perched in Near Root Trees 1/2 mile SE of Big Mdw. 12:12 - 7 visible perched; at least 12 near carcass but only 2 or 3 close enough to feed. A group of 4 stood quietly about 50' downhill from bait - others up to 10' or more uphill from it. 12:16, 11 near carcass; one adult took off downhill. One adult snapped, flinging forward neck & bill, at another walking past - the latter jumped & flopped, 4 down hill cinders jumped & recoiled too. 12:18, an inim. took off leaving only 7 visible near bait but only 3t' close enough to feed & none apparently feeding. One adult walked 10 paces downhill, 2 paces per second, & snapped at a standing cinder which threw wings up & jumped, as usual. 12:23, 8 around carcass but more feeding (at
