Fazenda Sta. Carlota - SP
season from june to september. Annual
precipitation amount to 1400mm.
We arrived at the park on Wednesday.
the 27 of October. Maia Rita de Cassia
Amâncio, one of the 2 managers of the
park, set us up at the researchers' house.
We set up 120 traps in the 140ha forest.
After 3 nights of trapping we caught only
Philander and Akodon. The weather was
hot and sunny during the day. The nights
were misty or clear. the temperature cooling
down significantly.*

Fazenda Santa Carlota, in the Município
de Cajuru, approximately 50km east of the
city of Ribeirão Preto, serves as field station
for researchers/students at Univ. of São Paulo
campus of Ribeirão Preto. Since 1983 some
professors at the dep. of Zoology and the
owners of the farm have had an agreement
that protects the remaining native vegetation
(40% of the total of 2600 alqueires‡, divided in many small plots), and allows for
