2700m altitude. There is a museum in
the park, with mammals, birds and insects.
For small mammals there was a Philander
opossum mis-identified as Mamossa
cinerea. There were some small rodents
unidentified. There were monkeys,
Procyon, Nasua, white-lipped and
collared peccaries, Hydrochaen's, an agouti
paca. The origin of those animals is
unsure, they may have been caught in
the park or come from other places.
Director of the park: Pedro E. C. Melo
offered us lodging in the park. We couldn't
collect inside the park. Though.
Therefore we went to Fazenda da Serra
and then Hotel Sta Mônica, properties
with forest continuous to the park. See
Guilherme and Dona Trudi, Germans that
have been living there for 15 yrs and own
the Hotel Sta. Monica, offered us to stay
at one vacant workers' house, close to the
forest. We set up the traps along trails :
10 stations crossing the river close to the hotel,
10 stations along a trail going further away
into the forest (towards the park) also crossing
that same river; 20 stations further into the
