Brutley, D.A 1964 Midway Atoll Aug 14 East Is. — 3 immature Laysan albatrosses on East Island, now were flying yet. Sand Is. — saw 2 non-flying Laysan albatrosses. Many dead Laysans along the beaches. Also a dead fulmar was found along the beach where the boats depart for East Island. Aug 15 Easton Is. — Band returns on 3 sooty terns — one from Johnston Atoll, 4 one from David Brigitte Shoals. Another orange tagged sooty from Johnston Atoll was observed, but couldn't be captured. One young wedge-tail seen in "colony #2 of sooty terns". Sand Island — another dead fulmar found within 100 ft of the bird found yesterday. It also was in a badly decomposed condition & can only be used for a skeleton. Aug 16 Drew a twin engine Grumman HU-16 amphibian to Blue Atoll, Green Island this afternoon. Spent about 2 hours looking over island + taking photographs of the seals + terns. Gave the two fulmars to Bill Witty. Arrived back on Midway
