July 3 - Heavy rain during night. Sunday, no fishing. After breakfast, Miss C. R. & I made up the big brook (Dirt branch) for a mile. Cliffs of worst bank very high & steep, Nearly all overhung by humus & on easy rafts in which fine tufts of Nordonia glabella - at 3 p.m. Mr. Jock Lavoie of Perce, Commissioner of Gaspé Co arrives for business with Mr. C. At 6 Cyril takes him & me down to Mr. Carberry. Mr. Lavoie recommends me to put up whilst at Perce at the house of Abram Lenferty. John Scott of Paspébiac, spending the night at Carberry is jolly Scotchman & recommends his horse as having no (wearing), He is also ready to drive us about country when we reach his district.
