1895 Grosbeaks, Plain Tits, etc. 4/14 Found several small woodpeck. hollows in orchard - only 1 good one which could have contained a Plain Tits nest: boots of these birds but no nests. Looked for Parakeet nests foot of Garfield Ave. with dog but saw no birds. Loto Robin snipe reported. Patterson took Black Phorbe (4) in well near his place last week. Yellow Warbler, back on gums by tank rother birds in their former localities. A s/s hawk in orchard to-day. Patterson says kids found several hummers rests in pasture S. of S. C. Ave. 4/20. Saw hawk again. Hummers scare this year. So are jays, but I shot none last cntr. Wrens scarce. J. Marbles, Grosbeaks v. Fbys. as usual. 4/21 Nails. T. Culture. G.B. Hornets seem trifle scarcer than last yr. Think Chinamen eat them. Brew. b.b. wading puddles for grub. Red-wings in 9rd.
