After leaving Walnut Creek Saw most of birds, a big t. buzz- zard, 2 bluebirds, lots flicker Hawks, (some worn Titin in first 1/2 mile, 4-1 Bewick's Wren after leaving Fish Ranch.) Came acry flocks of 5 to 40 M. Lark Sparrow foraging along road. Heard Cal. Woodpeckers, (saw a Say's Phoebe this side Laffayette.) Wild cur- rants & potatoes might shade etc in bloom in canons & most other early flowers on hills. Wheeler Examined 2 rats nests in small oaks first part of road & I looked into big oak & shumped on hollow branches other side of Fish Ranch, but didnt see a Horn. Out on the whole trip. Mar 5. Grobines flying over gums @ 4:45 this morn. A pair or
