to lift Swallow's eggs When scared from the nest the old bird dropped to the ground and fluttered along, feining a broken wing Evidently with the purpose of detracting my attention from the nest. The mate soon appeared upon the scene and flew off some distance and alight on a tree. The nest was about twelve feet up from the ground. August-10-1895. Saw an Arkansas Kingbird attack a Desert Sparrow Hawk that was carrying off the mate of the Kingbird in its talons. I have observed the flight of the Turkey Culture readily and have come to the con- clusion that they flap their wings in flying more than one would suspect.
