to lift Swallow's eggs
When scared from the nest
the old bird dropped to the ground and fluttered along,
feining a broken wing
Evidently with the purpose
of detracting my attention
from the nest. The mate
soon appeared upon the
scene and flew off some
distance and alight on a
tree. The nest was about
twelve feet up from the ground.
August-10-1895.
Saw an Arkansas Kingbird
attack a Desert Sparrow
Hawk that was carrying off
the mate of the Kingbird in
its talons.
I have observed the flight
of the Turkey Culture readily
and have come to the con-
clusion that they flap their
wings in flying more than
one would suspect.
