Brownie went up into a tree about 25 feet from Rhody and rather unexpectedly sang full song for several minutes, in short bursts. R did not even look in his direction. I went away and left them without making further observations. During this 5 day period Nova was observed to be present often, and a sharp-shinned hawk was shot in the old oak. At this time last year both Brownie and Greenie were carrying twigs to various prospective nesting sites and showing strong, though uncoordinated nesting symptoms. There has been none of that this year.
