January 30, 1911.
The drake binnamon teal has just completed his moult and
is in high plumage.
Feb. 19, 1911.
Got a female on Feb. 13 by trading female
Shoveller. The male and female became
very chummy right off. The female is very
jalous and warns off any birds who ap-
proach her mate by bobbing her head up and
down and clucking. She particularly objects
to the female Pintail "Sallie".
Feb. 26, 1911.
Have noted binnamon Teals copulating three times during week.
For a moment afterwards the male assumes a statuesque
pose with necked arched and elevated and with bill
pointing almost perpendicularly downwards towards
the water. Afterwards both bathe.
March 14, 1911.
I have noted the binnamon teal copulating
several times since last mentioned. No signs
of nesting yet.
April 9, 1911.
Sexual intercourse observed occasionally.
Seem to be thinking of nesting as I saw the
drake come out of a secluded box the other day. He
also drove other birds from the vicinity.
