18. March 22, 1911. Alameda to San Francisco, Cal. Along the mole and seawall a number of ducks. One Aechmophorus occidentalis near west end of mole. On the bay Larus californ- iensis and Larus glaucescens the same as yesterday. March 23, 1911. Alameda to San Francisco, California. Along the seawall and mole there were quite a number of ducks. Off the seawall I recognized three or four Oidemia perspicillata by the white patches on the back of the head. One Aechmophorus occidentalis near mole. On the bay adult Larus californicus far out- numbered the immature Larus glaucescens. The former species follows the steamers quite commonly. In the morning I saw 2 small flocks of ducks flying north east of Goat Island, and in the evening one flying south, also a cormorant. In the morning I saw a cormorant on a pile at the Alameda Mole; it stood with wings outspread for sev- eral minutes. March 24, 1911. Alameda to San Francisco, California. Along Alameda mole in Oakland Creek I saw two ducks and half a dozen or so California gulls. On the bay I saw Larus glaucescens and Larus californicus in the usual proportions. Off the San Francisco water front there were two or three large flocks of gulls, chiefly Larus californicus,
