San Leandro Bay, Sloughs, and south shore of Bay Farm Island,
Alameda County, California.
Rallus obsoletus. Heard three or four and saw one.
Proctopus nigricollis. One.
Terns. One smaller one, apparently Sterna
forsteri; two larger ones, perhaps Sterna caspia.
Larus Californicus. An immature one passed close.
Several other large gulls seen.
Arenaria interpres. Two or three on south shore.
Squatarola helvetica. Fairly common. Two or
three black-bellied individuals.
Argialeus semipalmatus. One in slough.
Argalitis rivosa. Three on south shore of island.
Two shot appeared immature.
Numenius longirostris. A few. This species appeared
more numerous than Numenius hudsonicus.
Limosa fedoa. Several in Melrose Slough.
Totanus melanoleucus. Two in San Leandro Bay.
Symphemia semipalmata. Common and noisy
when disturbed.
