Alameda to San Francisco, California.
This morning I saw one cormorant flying over
the east end of Alameda in a southwesterly
direction.
Along the seawall and mole this morning
and this evening there were a few ducks and
several gulls.
On the bay this evening I saw the usual
Larus glaucescens and Larus californicus, also
Two Larus philadelphia southbound;
April 3, 1909.
Alameda to San Francisco, California.
This morning I saw two Pipilo fuscus near High Street.
Off the seawall west of Fifth Street were several
Odemia perspicillata. Along the mole I saw several
gulls on the water, 4 female Aristonetta valisneria
near the beach at the roundhouse and a few
Scamps and Scoters in the water along the mole.
Along the mole this evening there were quite
a few ducks in the water, a flock of 30 or 40
rising as the train passed; they appeared to be
mostly Scamps. On the sand exposed by the
outgoing tide there a good many gulls.
April 5, 1909.
This morning there were quite a few gulls
on the sand near the roundhouse. Two Ardea
herodias in shallow water. Very few ducks along
mole. This evening saw Larus californicus and
miniature Larus glaucescens on the bay, S. T. side.
