Erasthemrops rossi. making a moaning sound though in a slightly higher key than that of the adults; this leads me to suspect that it may be a gander. One, at least, of the birds gets up on the roof of the chicken house very often now, and even the pinioned ones flap their wings a good deal while on the ground. All exhibit considerable restlessness, especially in the evening. April 14, 1909. One of the birds spends a great deal of its time on the roof of the shed. It also tries to get out, banging against the wire top of the aviary. As it leaves the ground it utters a low moaning sound with mouth open, I'm coming down from the shed to feed it hesitates a good deal on the edge, apparently having a hard time to get in just the right position to fly.
