This morning when going to San Francisco I saw three or four Odenid deglandi on the water off the mole. One rose slight to flap its wings thus showing plainly the white markings. There were quite a number of Numerus hudsonicus on the sand near the seawall and along the mole this morning. Also num- bers of sand pipers. Out near the water's edge near the roundhouse there was quite a flock of Larus californicus bunch together on the sand. This evening about 8:30 when walking along High St., Alameda, in the rain, I heard several Symphennia semipalmata (?) passing over. adult. I saw an Larus occidentalis off the Ferry Building. May 3, 1908. Vicinity of Leona Heights, Alameda Co., Cal. On a dead oak tree 200 or 300 ft. above the station we found the nest of a flock Colaptes cafer with
