south. Yesterday and to-day I saw a fine high-plumage Dendroica auduboni in a peach tree in the back yard. March 24, 1908. Alameda to and from San Francisco, cal. The weather still remains pleasant, although the wind has been rather northerly and the tem- perature warm. The chief ducks on the water along the mole this morning were Scamp ducks. Larus califor- nicus are fairly common on the sand ex- posed near the roundhouse. On the bay this morning and on the piles on the San Francisco side were a few- immature Larus glaucescens. A few gulls still follow the steamers. Ducks are decreasing in numbers along the mole. March 29, 1908. Alameda to and from San Francisco, cal. Conditions: - Clear; northwest wind; moderate temperature. Few ducks were noted along the mole, while on the sand exposed by the tide there were consid- erable numbers of gulls. A number of Larus californicus and Larus glaucescens followed the steamer over, the latter being all young birds. In Stow Lake, Golden Gate Park I noted Eris- natura jamaicensis and Spatula clypeata in ad- dition to the ducks noted last visit.
