148. This afternoon I observed gulle flying westward over the house at Gough Street. They were apparent- ly Larus californicus and Larus glaucescens. Noted on the bay this morning, besides these two species, Larus canus or Larus brachyrhynchus. I saw a loon high in the air flying northwest, also one or two others during the past week. Off the oisle I saw the usual large flock of ducks this morning. Yesterday The day before yesterday I saw in the vi- cinity of our house in Alameda the following:- Lamis ludo- vicamus, saw one pick up what looked to be a worm from the sidewalk and fly off with it; Dendroica auduboni, several in pear trees near house; Zonotrichia leucophrys, one immature one; Hylaeichla guttata, one or two in tree and on ground.
