Ex galericulata.
April 9, 1911.
Last night the female Mandarin, Duck No. 1, died,
leaving me with a single drake. This morning I saw
the drake having sexual intercourse with the female Wood
Duck much to the annoyance of the male Wood
Duck.
The bird (Lily) which died is No. 17919 C.A.S.
Her ovaries were not much enlarged. She appeared
to have died of fatty congestion of the heart, as
that organ was swollen to about twice its
catural size. The liver also appeared
diseased.
June 11, 1911.
Noted several drake Mandarins in Golden
Gate Park to-day. All looked very shabby
but none were in eclipse plumage as yet.
December 10, 1911.
Noted several fine-plumaged drakes in Golden
Gate Park to-day.
