This evening the only species of gull noted was Larus
californicus, but in an immense variety of plumages
with the exception of the white-headed adult. The most
were seen at or over the junction of the two currents
south of Goat Island; Near here also were observed
about a dozen terns (Sterna forsteri ?) all flying,
not particularly close together, and some calling.
Among them was a jaeger, apparently Ster-
corarius pomarinus in adult plumage.
