Noted two or three Nycticorax nycticorax flying
over houses this evening; squawking of course.

Alameda to and from San Francisco, Cal.
Conditions: - W.W. wind; moderate temperature; fairly clear.
A few immature Larus californicus and an occasional Larus occidentalis (adult) are the only birds
seen on the bay. In the afternoon when the wind
blows, the strongest they sit on the water considerably, always facing to windward.
Along the seawall, marsh, and mole
nothing has been observed.

San Francisco to Alameda, Cal.
Conditions: - Moderate temperature; W.W. wind; clear.
Four or five adult Larus occidentalis and two
or three immature Larus californicus circled about in
front of steamer while she was in the slip and
finally alighted. While on the water one of the
(Western) Gulls made a jab at the back of another
with its bill, but the second bird evaded it by
