Alameda to and from San Francisco, Cal.
Only noted two or three immature Larus californicus near the Ferry Building this evening.

Alameda to and from San Francisco, Cal.
Conditions: - Moderate temperature; brisk north-westerly wind; clear.
In the morning a half a dozen gulls were
noted flying along the mole to the eastward.
On the way in the evenings were a great
many Larus philadelphia (very few black headed ones)
on the water and flying. They were chiefly
off Goat Island. Some of the immature ones
had black on the inner edge of the wings
as well as on the tail. Their flight was
very graceful. When they arose upon the
approach of the ferry boat they flew off
a short distance uttering short croak.
Two or three Larus Californicus were
on the water with them. A few were also
seen near the Ferry building; all immature:
