Alameda Island from San Francisco, Cal.
Conditions: - Moderate temperature; westerly wind;
quite clear.
In the morning there were a good many
(Numenius hudsonicus)
curlew on the marsh west of 1st St. A few were
also feeding on the exposed mud and sand
near the roundhouse, in company with
a good many snipe (in one flock) and hun-
dreds of sandpipers. Along the mole a
few Scoters and Scamp ducks still linger,
most of them keeping at a distance, how-
ever.
