When at the beach I noted several
white birds at a distance which acted like Larus
philadelphia, fluttering down now and then
to the water.
April 8, 1907.
Alameda to and from San Francisco, cal.
Conditions: - Thick fog in morning; warm; clear; no wind
later.
This evening gulls were exceedingly thick about the
ferry depot, particularly Larus californicus, mostly adults.
A few immature ones were seen and also a good many
immature Larus glaucescens.
When nearing Alameda Mole, three ducks were
noted going north quite high in the air and also
about a dozen curren, these latter calling.
Along the mole I saw several Scamp ducks, two
males swimming along together close to the mole, and
four of five Oidemia perspicillata.
