Jan. 31, 1907.
Alameda mole, Alameda, cal., to San Francisco, cal.
Conditions:- Moderate temperature; overcast; SE wind;
7:30 A.M.
I noted an Ardea herodias standing in the shallow
water near the roundhouse. Quite a number of
Larus & Oidemia perspicillata were seen along the
mole, also some ducks which I think were Aythya
marila. A few gulls were noted flying along the mole.
Immature Larus glaucescens were the only gulls
on the piles at the ferry slip on the San Francisco side.
Feb. 6, 1907.
Alameda to San Francisco, cal.
Conditions:- Foggy; 7:00 to 8:00 A.M.
A few Larus glaucescens followed the steamer
across. A few ducks are noted along the mole
each morning. No gulls about in evening.

hazy.
The only gull seen was an adult Larus oc-
cidentalis which was flying. All of the others seem
to have gone to roost by this time of day, although
it is quite light.
I noted a few Aythya valisineria along the mole
this morning. A few ducks on the bay this even-
ing.
