Larus californicus is not very common, and
follows the boat very little. A few western gulls, (Larus

Vivia tricolor flying westward. On last Thursday,
the twenty-fifth I saw a Stercorarius pomarinus
in pursuit of a gull.

JUN -7 1905
Alameda, Cal. to and from San Francisco, Cal.
Conditions: Moderate temperature; overcast.
A few gulls may be seen on the sand along the mole
at low tide. Yesterday in crossing the bay I saw two
gulls only, one a Larus hermannii. This evening
I saw three or four Larus occidentalis. I have only one
or two Larus californicus during the last week.
No gulls follow the boat now. I see one or more Nycticorax nycticorax on the sand at Fifth St. each morning.
