Larus californicus is abundant, a good many being seen on the roofs of sheds. A few Larus glaucescens were observed, all immature birds. Mr. Beck obtained the following birds from Alameda the day before yesterday: - Gavia humme, Merganser serrator, Aythya marila, Eistimatura jamaicensis, Mac- orhamphus colopaceus, Symphemia semipalmata, and Squatarola squatarola; Ictamus melanoleucus. I have seen quite a few Carpodacus mexicanus and Shrindo erythrogaster during the last three or four days. APR 14 1905 Alameda, Cal. to and from San Francisco, Cal. Conditions:- Warm; windy; clear. Ducks were not common along the mole this morning. I saw Aythya marila and Oidemia deglandi. There were several (cormorants) sitting on some stakes quite a ways out. In the evening I saw only a few ducks. Larus californicus (adults,) are abundant on the bay. A few immature Larus glaucescens are seen. Mr. Beck obtained the following birds from Ala- meda yesterday:- Colymbus nigricollis. Quite high plumage. Aythya vallisneria. Aythya marila. Clangula clangula. Symphemia semipalmata. Macrorhamphus griseus. Squatarola squatarola.
