Arenaria interpres. May 1, 1911. Added fine high plumage Turnstone to collection. Shows how backward No. 1 is in moulting. No. 1 must be in winter plumage still, although several reddish feathers are showing in back. August 13, 1911. The two Turnstones are becoming rather faded although neither appear to have moulted yet. No. 1 did not attain the usual high plumage, while No. 2 was in the very height of plumage when taken. Both eat considerable wheat and bread. October 29, 1911. No. 1 is still in winter plumage with yellow legs. I cannot tell whether the feathers are old or new. No. 2 is in worn high plumage with red legs. No. 1 never attained high plumage, skipping that plumage altogether; appears to be in perfect health. November 20, 1911. No. 1 appears to show some new feathers of winter plumage in the interscapular region. No. 2 shows no sign of moult, but is in worn high plumage.
