In the marsh Sturnella magna and Melospiza cinerea were common. Shore birds were remarkably scarce and very wary, even the small sandpipers. The following water birds were observed. Lobolymbus nigricollis. Fairly common west of Bay Farm Island Bridge. Gulls, About 6 seen. Larus delawarensis. One. Sterna forsteri (?) About three seen. Ducks. A few flew over. There were several flocks, perhaps about 70 birds in all west of the Island bridge. They were unapproachable. Oidemia perspicillata. Common on open bay. Ardea herodias. A few. Nycticorax nycticorax. A few. Fulica americana. 2 in slough. A few with stocks outside. Actodromas minutilla. Common. Crex crex occidentalis. Very common. Symphemia semipalmata. About 12. Wary. Squatarola squatarola.
