7:00 A.M. to 8:00 A.M. Conditions:- Overcast; strong south west wind; slightly cold; tide flooding. I saw a good many Passer domestica on the way through town. At the station I saw one Hirundo erythrogaster flying over a chicken yard. Near Fifth St. Station I saw one Larus occidentalis flying and one on the water. At the mole there was one sitting on a distant pile. On the bay I saw a few Larus heermannii off Goat Island and a few Larus occidentalis. San Francisco, bal. to Alameda, bal. 5:15 P.M. to 5:35 P.M. Conditions:- Overcast; strong west wind; temperature moderate; tide flooding. I saw a few Larus heermannii and Larus occidentalis on the trip over. They keep a good distance from the steamers, in fact seem not to heed them. On the south and south- eastern sides of Goat Island, I saw three or four Uria atra on the water. JUL - 9 1904 Alameda, bal. to San Francisco, bal. 7:00 A.M. to 8:00 A.M. Conditions:- Overcast; drizzling in Alameda, but not on the bay; warm; tide flooding. I saw a good many Passer domestica in town and a few Euphagus cyanocephalus in the vegetable gardens. At the roundhouse I saw a small flock of immature Larus occidentalis.
