prax mysticoray and Larus occidentalis. As the tide was pretty high there was not space for many birds on the sand. In the vegetable gardens I observed a few Euphagus cyanocephalus. Along the mole there were a great many Larus occidentalis on the sand. Off at the water's edge was an Ardea herodias. On the bay I saw a few Larus occidentalis. All were flying as it was rather rough. I saw no Larus heermanni San Francisco, Cal. to Alameda Mole, Cal., Time: - 5:45 P.M. to 6:05 P.M. Conditions: - Overcast; wind; a little cold. On the entire trip I saw only a few of both species of gull, that is Larus occidentalis and Larus heermanni. I saw only one gull on the wa- ter and that was a Larus occidentalis. When he rose it was against the wind, somewhat in the manner of Oregata apula. South of Goat Island I saw five Vivia troile on the water and one in flight. I saw one Larus heermanni near the mole. As the train traveled eastward, I saw a fine adult Larus occidentalis trying vainly to fly away with a ladder.
