Boulder Creek 1943 Quit (Quit. See July 27 On the afternoon when the extra Br. Torhee came into the thyme around the feeding table, the female was on the table and the male on the rose bush nearby. She darted and the intruder, the male joined him and they drove it (quadr? into the crab apple tree and out of the garden. I did not see it again).- July 30. The Female Spotted Torhee, which is very tame, feeds and then carries food beyond the garage July 31. A Wren-tit was heard in the garden and a Water Ouzel on the river - Hot. Heart damage call. Aug. 1. Cooler, Breezy. In the Alvaro orchard there were pippy juncos and Chickadees in the grass; juncos, gr. Goldfinches and Pt. Thrushes in the fruit trees Aug. 2. Perfect summer day. Drove home via Skyline to La Honda jet., Woodside, Drum- Barton Bridge. Tide High. East end: White Pelicans in usual place 400+, Blackbellied Plover 1, Snowy Plover 2 Willets 20+, Least Sandpiper 1 large flock + many singles or small groups Avocets - 15+, N. Phalaropes 100+ Calif. Gulls 40+, Forster Tern 1, Cliff Swallows al. Br. Bl. Birds ab. Berkeley Aug. 4. As I watered the garden I noticed: Flycatcher (large - Olive sided?) on electric wire; heard W. Flycatcher, Bush. tits large flock, Virgin Wren (heard), Wren-tits, Pt. Thrush, Nuthatch Trio, gr. Goldfinch, (chased the large flycatcher), Brown Torhee ad.+1 y.p., Sp. Torhee (fam.), Song Spto.
