Jan. 1. Return trip from Boulder Creek. (See 1942)
Jan. 2. Colder. Birds had not been fed for several
days but when I put out food several

Put out a fresh pomegranate.
In the afternoon I took a walk up Panoramic
Stile at the
Way to the top of the hill. On the south side of
the hill there was no wind (from N.W.) and it was
quite warm. Birds were very quiet but I checked

Purple Finch 1 x 2; R.-c. Knight 7 - quietly;
Wrentit 3 pros. Anna Hummer 1 singing, perched on
bare branch opp. juniper (Dartie place); I heard
farther on, Brown Towhees 3 pros.; Spotted Ti. 2.

Sh. Sh. Hawk, one note from a low perch, circled
up about 100 ft., then flew S. toward head of Dwight Way

top of a cedar in Strawberry Canyon. Driolin 2,
