"Birds in Retrospect", at Cooper Club.
March 25. Warm, clear. Warbling Vireo near house, sq.
March 26. Many Tomm.W., junco's, Snitrio. Song Sp. 4
junco's eating worms. Fox Sp. singing.
March 27. A second male Lutiscnt Warbler came
in and was chased constantly by the one
that has been established since Feb. 21 and
has a mate. Finally it was singing in p.m.-
west of the steps across Mosswood Rd.
Wacy T. Warblers, and junco's eating worms -8q.
March 28. W.W. Wren singing (twice) under my window.
Heard no Fox Sparrows. Cloudy.
March 29. Saw two Fox Sparrows near pool. In late
afternoon a Song Sp. perched at feeding
branch a long time - no competition.
Shell still full of oatmeal put out in
morning. Heavy rain with wind a.m.
Clearing p.m. Chilly wind.
The second Lut. Warbler sang repeatedly
in woods east of house below airplace.
None heard west of steps above road.
March 30. Partially foggy a.m, Clear warmer p.m.
At dawn: Nervous Thrush of Fox Sparrow singing.
"Allen Hummers" had their first trip (spring)
from Stadium to Botanical Garden. Birds very
abundant, singing. At south end of Stadium:-
3 Sp. Harris, Anna Hummer S., 2 mail (seen by Mrs. Heng
below Stadium), Titmouse (Pied live.) Bushtit (pr.) wrestled for
Lut. Warbler (oak tree), Linnets, robin, Brown, sp. Tow. G.C.Sp. Sp.
Up Strawberry Canyon. (Noguid, W.Thrp.) 1 Anna H. (Bot. Gar.)
1 Flicker (?), 1 Redtail, 3 Black-throated, 2 at Sw.Pool, 1 Bot. War., 1 pr. Coast Jay,
