1943 Mar. 18 (couth) Siskins (large fl. Eucalyptus), 10+ G.C. Sparrows eating willow Tassels; Brown Towhee (pew), 1 pr. Sp. Tow., 2 prs. Song Sparrows, Junco's eating blossoms of Cypress- Hamilton Canyon; 3 Flickers (couth), Anna H.-, 1 Calif. Jay, 2 Coast jays, Allen (or Rufous) Hummer, '3 jays- Bush Tits, 3 prs. Wrentits, 2 prs. Vireos Wrens (ag.), 1 Thrasher (dulaut), 3 Lutescent W. singing; R.C. Kinglet 2 ag., And. Warbler (1), Br. Towhee, G.C. Sp., Purple Finch (2 ag.), Siskins (fl. ag.) Song Sp. 2 ag. At 7:15 p.m. we walked through the Superintendent grounds. A flock of 12+ Swail burst out of a small tree where they had settled to roost. March 19. Cloudy, Still chilly. A Townsend W. was singing near the house. Heard a W.W. Wren sing again. March 21. Cloudy, Chilly. At 9 a.m. there was a big flock of Townsend Warblers singing near the east pool. At the same time Lutescent W., Vireo Wren, Song Sparrow. Both jays came for fat. W. Flycatcher near house. Mar. 22 Beautiful weather. Townsend Warblers, Junco's. Mar. 24. Early fog, clearing 10:30 a.m. Lady Birds went up Strawberry Canyon. A Cooper Hawk was perched in a tree on the Bot. Garden Road. Flew, rose in spiral, then joined by a second which came together several times (counting ?) (No Swail). Anna Hummer, Black Phoebe (pew), (Allen or Rufous heard), Flicker (cur. calling), Coast & Calif. J., Tillinouse (aw.), Bush T's prob., Wrentits, Vireo Wren singing (many), (W.W. Wren sang above Swimming Pool, Hermit Thrush (notab.-), R.C. Kinglet, 2er. ag., Hutton Vireo (1), Lutescent W. & spaced, ag., Red-t Tow. W. ag., Pileated above Swimming Pool, Calif. P.
