Unusual song of Bulbatt Sp. at S.W. Cor. Stadium.
Mar. 2. Beautiful spring day. A large flock of
Audubon Warblers in a large oak tree east of
the Infirmary. Kinglets wirecrying.
Mar. 3. Stormy with east wind. A Lutescent
Warbler is singing west of the houses. New
leaves are coming out on the oaks. Junco's
at the table - 8-10. Purple Finch, Hermit Thrush,
singing.
Mar. 4. As I sat eating dinner at the W.F.C., I
watched Varied Thrushes feeding along the banks
of Strawberry Creek. I could see six at once.
Still Stormy, colder.
Mar. 4. Raining. Flock of Brush-tits very small,
Cedar Waxwings and Robins still thick near
Infirmary but berries getting scarce.
Mar. 5. Very gloomy, Raining. Lutescent Warbler
and Vagors Were singing. On way to Oakland
A.M. I heard Song Sparrows and Titmouse
singing. In Hamilton Canyon Two Sharp-
shins (a Cooper) were seen rising in Spirals
when a Sparrow Hawk darts at him. Then
a second Sharp-shin appeared. Both Sh. Sh.
disappeared in the cloud and the Sp. Hawk returned
to the top of Panoramic Way. Another Sp.H.
was poising in the wind and dropped at
the hill above Dwight Way - Strong wind S.W.
Anna H. Still on his perch.
Mar. 6-10. Almost constant rain, no wind. Lutescent
Warbler continued to sing - most of the time
across the road. Also Purple Finch, Vagors Were
Song Sparrows.
