Jan. 20. Very heavy storm with S.W. wind. (X Rays)
Jan. 21. At 7.30 heard Red-W. Wrenhatch - "" During
an intermission with no rain but high wind
we walked as usual on Panoramic. Very
Rain
Thunder
at night few birds seen or heard. One birch tree (Huttele-
vision place) broken off; one acacia leaning
badly - many twigs and branches broken.
Jan. 23. Still stormy. Walk to switch back on Panoramic
1 Cooper Hawk, 1 Aud. Warbler, 1 St. Goldfinch, 1 Siskin
1 Sp. Towhee, 2 Br. Towhees, 1 Song Sp. No Ama Hummer
at home. Many Fox Sparrows and Sp. Towhees,
with frequent fights near foodway. Two Coast jays also.
Jan. 24. Same walk. But birds very scarce except
Panoramic at top of Orchard Lane and south;
Two close flocks 20+ Siskins; on wire Juncos;
Robins - Rained last night 4:45
Jan. 25. Still raining. Walks at 4:15. Birds seem
Sparrow Hawk - flew down from top of hill,
across to eucalyptus, head of Dwight Way,
then west and back up the hill - sporting in
the strong south wind.
Ama X. on the usual wire - left when the
hawk appeared.
Flicker - one calling. Hutton Vireo - 1 Calling.
Brush-Wy - his flock - one gave alarm when
hawk flew over - Other at Rattlesnake place,
Hermit Thrush - one heard, Audubon W. 3.
Wrentit - 3 (single - one gave song or female)
Calif. Jay 1, Coast Jay 1, St. Goldfinch 1
Purple Finch 1, Brown Towhee 1, Sp. Towhee 1,
Fox Sp. 1, Song Sparrow 1 singing. 16 sp.
