May 1 (Contin.) At Poultry Farm - a Crested Jay,
Linnetts, Bush Tits, whistle of Rb. Thr.
Warm p.m. From our west porch I could hear Jay. But -
Robin singing late evening.
May 12. Same darn chorus - Brown Towhee has stopped
of singing. Rb. Thrush a.g. constantly in morning-
A Harris Wdple calling. 10 a.m. A.W. Vires sang on
and on with hardly a break between songs,
Gotta race in the car in the street.
May 13. At 11 a.m. I heard a Chat calling and
singing east of the house. Stayed a
very short time. A family of Nut. Warblers
came into the oaks next to the N.W. porch in
the late afternoon: Bewick Wrens very busy
feeding young in the lower box. Yp. calling.
May 14. Showers. Birds singing: Rb. Thrush, Grosbeak,
B. Wren, Song sp. (increasing), Warbling Vires, S. Tandy
rain in afternoon. {Callie H. found by W. Rinsell
in pool, drowned.
May 15. Clearing. Many birds about. At dawn Rb. Thrush,
Grosbeaker, Lalin W. Vires, Pil. Warbler.
From N.W. porch p.m. W. Flycatcher, H. Wdple, Robin,
B. Wren, Lut. W. yq., Pil. W. junco, Grosbeak, Siskin,
Linnet (flying over); Bush Tit, Rb. Thr., Hummer,
Log. B. across canyon. W. Vires.
May 16. Perfect weather. Pil. Warbler very conspicuous -
After 9 a.m. Chilly with clouds and cold wind
May 17. Raining. Rain all night. Thr. pThr. at dawn-
A Cassin Vireo singing. Lut. W. family below
house. Pil. W. singing frequently.
May 18. Cloudy - junco singing across Morrow. Roads.
Clear - Hut. W. family still below home. At 5 p.m. a family
of titmice near front gable. Decrease in songs of
thrush and grosbeake (gone on to nesting localities)
