A Lutulent Warbler came from under the edge
of the porch across to east pool. West there,
carls
Apr.30. Overcast a.m., Sunny later. Birds much
decreased, Purple Finches, Siskins, and
birds that are nesting. Decrease in robins
Saw a Harris Woodpecker - spent 10 minutes
in one spot on trunk of oak west of house.
Willow Goldfinch flew over - toward east.
Much warmer. Evening Swirl in distance.
May 6. Beautiful weather. Clear, warm.
Br. Tovher, Grobears, Purple Finches, Song
Sparrow, Towager (full pl. B), 2 Robins Cops,
Bewick Wren, Tolmie & Lutulent Warblers -
Red Breasted Nuthatch at U.C. Sanctuary.
May 2. Perfect weather. Heard R.B. Thrush.
Sq. at dawn & Lut., Grobears, Tol.W., B.Wren
Br.Tovr. calling. Later singing below house.
Swirl in distance - Pit. Warbler, C.jay
There seems to be no Sp. Towhee nesting
near the house - they are across road.
May 3. The Brown Towhee that has been singing
seems to have a mate - two have been
going about calling together. Male
still gives a partial song. Beautiful day.
Pair of Lut.W. at pool - we crossed to porch, at steps.
May 4. Heard the Lazuli Bunting when I
opened the window 7:45 a.m. - across
the canyon. Heard R.B. Thrush.
At ten a.m. I heard the chit-chat, chit-chat of
young birds - in the trees and flying easily.
The Brown Towhee is singing a more varied
strain ----
A Flicker giving its Morning call - tatt tatt tat tat
Six Grobears on place at noon - ever singing.
