April 4. Showers. Many birds in oaks, Purple F.,

Apr. 5. Perfect morning. Fox Sp. singing.
P'il.W., Lut.W., W. Flycatcher sq.
Song Sp. Virginia Wren, Wren-tal., Purple Finch sq.
Apr.6. 11:15 a.m. Purple Rd. Sparrows have just begun
To sing in the oaks - Others as yesterday
except W.V. Calif Jay at table. Frost on calves shed early.
Apr.7. Another beautiful spring day.
10:15 a.m. R-c. Sparrows singing; 11 a.m. Purple Finches;
5 p.m. Noticed Swallows flying about Dater -
national Home as we drove by.
Apr.8. Rainiest night of last night. A Brown
Towhee sang for nearly an hour east of house.
7:30-8:30 a.m. Purple Finches later. Stormy.
Apr.9. Clear, Warm. P.M. Lay on N.W. porch. Robins
eating worms (1/4-1/2), Female Wren taking
chicks into titmouse box. A female Anna H. came
into oak branches just above my head and
peered with her beak into singles between stems
(asil in search of scale or cottony cocoons?)
